Shearer: England have shown they have a chance at World Cup glory

Former Newcastle United striker, Alan Shearer has said that England's display against Colombia in the second round is a sign that they have a chance of lifting the World Cup.

The Three Lions defeated the South Americans on penalties by four goals to three after a 1-1 draw in 120 minutes of play. It was England's first ever penalty victory at the World Cup. The win means that they will now face Sweden in the quarter-final.

"England are probably not the most talented team at this World Cup but we showed against Colombia why we have now got a great chance of winning it," he said, the BBC reports.
