Juventus defender Alex Sandro has agreed terms ahead of a possible £53m move to Manchester United, Starsports reports.

The 27-year-old plays as a left-back for Juventus and Brazil but was left out of his country's World Cup squad.

United's Premier League rivals, Chelsea have also been linked with the player, but have been unable to sign him.

United currently have Luke Shaw and Ashley Young as left-backs. While Shaw is not Mourinho's favourite defender, Young has done quite well in that position despite him starting at Old Trafford as a winger.

United getting Sandro will mean the Mourinho will get a specialist left-back who can serve the club at the highest level for the next five years.

The £53m move will also benefit Juve greatly because they can use the money to finance an £88m move for Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo.

Juventus have reportedly offered Ronaldo a £26m a year contract for the next four years. United have been linked with Ronaldo, but it is looking increasingly likely that Juventus will get the five-time Ballon d'Or winner.
