Chelsea fail with Cavani bid

Chelsea have reportedly failed with an opening bid to sign Edinson Cavani from Paris Saint-Germain during the ongoing transfer window.

Blues boss Maurizio Sarri is said to be keen on recruiting a new marksman this summer having not been convinced with the options in hand.

As such, a number of strikers have been linked with potential moves to Stamford Bridge and Cavani is the latest to have caught the radar of the west London giants.

According to CulturePSG, the Blues are understood to have approached to sign the 31-year-old but their offer was swiftly knocked back by Les Parisiens, who have deemed the player as indispensable.

Cavani had minor issues with Neymar during the first half of the previous campaign but he has since sorted any misunderstandings with the latter taking charge of the spot kicks.

The 31-year-old is presently the club's leading all-time scorer with 170 goals from just 245 appearances across all competitions. He is currently on a vacation following his World Cup exploits with Uruguay.
