Nelson set for new Arsenal contract

Arsenal youngster Reiss Nelson is reportedly on the verge of penning a new long-term contract with the contract. The teenager made his breakthrough last term with 16 appearances for the first-team and he now appears set to commit his future for the long-term.

According to The Sun, the north London giants are prepared to reward Nelson with a fresh five-year contract after impressing under new boss Unai Emery in pre-season.

Nelson has been heavily praised by the Gunners' faithful since breaking through the youth system and he was in impressive form during the recent pre-season where he contributed two goals and three assists.

The 18-year-old may not expect to start regularly in the Premier League this term and he could certainly get an opportunity in the Europa League, where Emery may seek to rotate his squad.

Arsenal open their Premier League campaign with a mouth-watering clash against Manchester City and Nelson could be among those making the bench for the Emirates encounter.
