Leicester City star confirms transfer interest from Manchester United

Leicester City defender Harry Maguire has confirmed that Manchester United had made an approach to sign him during the recently concluded transfer window.

The England international had been heavily tipped for a move to Old Trafford before the summer transfer deadline but the deal never materialised after the Foxes decided against his sale.

Since then, Maguire has been ever-present for the Foxes in their league campaign and he most-recently bagged the winner during the 2-1 triumph over Southampton.

In a report covered by BBC Sport, Maguire has now confirmed that United were keen on acquiring his services but the deal could not go through after the Foxes hierarchy opted against his transfer.

"There was obviously a little bit of interest, you've probably all seen. The owners spoke with me and they reiterated that I wasn't for sale at any price," he said.

Maguire added that he respects the decision made by the east Midlands outfit and he is now focused on having a strong season with the 2015/16 Premier League champions.
