Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson has signed a new five-year deal that will keep him at the club until 2023.

The 28-year-old has been with the club since 2011 and is set to play for the Reds even in his 30s.

The England international has expressed delight over the new deal and made this known to Liverpool's official website.

“I’m very happy to have signed a new contract for a long period of time," he said. "I’m absolutely delighted."

The former Sunderland man went ahead to add that he has enjoyed his time at the Anfield club since his arrival and wants to be at Liverpool for as long as possible.

The Reds' captain has made 284 appearances since his arrival, scoring 24 goals.

After making 27 Premier League appearances last season, Henderson has started this season quite well, making four EPL appearances so far, with three coming from the bench.

Henderson is also part of the England squad that will face Spain and Switzerland during the international break.
