Real Madrid interested in Manchester United and Barcelona target

Real Madrid are interested in signing Holland and Ajax £72m midfielder Frenkie de Jong, according to De Telegraaf.

The Dutch international has been linked to various clubs in Europe including Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur Manchester City and Barcelona.

The 21-year-old favours a move to Real Madrid's bitter rivals Barcelona who made a move a for De Jong during the last transfer window, but were rebuffed.

The Catalans are expected to return in the summer along with other clubs with a move in January ruled out by Ajax's sporting director Marc Overmars.

Of all the clubs interested in the defensive midfielder, Spurs have reportedly had an offer in excess of £44.5m rejected by Ajax.

He is an upcoming player and has been tipped to be one of the best players in Europe in the next few years.

He was in the starting lineup as PSV Eindhoven defeated Ajax by three goals to nothing in the Eredivisie over the weekend. He has made six Eredivisie appearances this season.
