Pablo Zabaleta eyes Serie A move
West Ham defender Pablo Zabaleta has revealed that he hopes to end his career in Serie A. The Argentinian full-back, who has played for Man City prior to moving to the Hammers, has 8 months remaining on his current deal with the Premier League side.
The 33-year-old has been in good form since his arrival at the club from City on a free transfer and has now opened up on his plans to make a transfer to Italy in the future.
“I came close to joining Roma in the past," Zabaleta told Sky Sport Italia, as reported by Calciomercato . "They offered me a three-year contract and I thought that could be a positive experience for me.
"However, Guardiola took over at Manchester City and he told me that he needed me to stay so in the end I didn’t join Roma. “It’s a decision I took with my heart even though I’ve always thought that I’d like to play in Italy one day."
Zabaleta has also admitted that he would like to one day play in his home country of Argentina again.
