Chelsea plan bumper contract for French midfielder

Kante close to new Chelsea contract

Chelsea are reportedly planning to reward N'Golo Kante with a new bumper contract amid the constant interest from French giants Paris Saint-Germain.

Kante has transformed into one of the world's best defensive-minded midfielders since making the switch to England and he has won the Premier League and FA Cup since joining the Blues in 2016.

Amidst this, he has regularly been linked with a big-money switch to Les Parisiens, but according to L'Equipe, the Blues are making every effort to counter the interest from the French champions.

Kante currently earns only £120,000-a-week with the Blues but the club are prepared to at least double his wages in order to ward off any attention from the Ligue 1 leaders.

The former Caen man has played further up from his usual holding midfield position this season with manager Maurizio Sarri favouring Jorginho in the defensive role.

He has nonetheless been consistent with his performances and has featured in each of the club's Premier League matches this campaign. His current deal expires in the summer of 2021.
