Everton stepping up efforts to sign Manchester United defender
Everton have reportedly opened a dialogue with Manchester United over the possible signing of Marcos Rojo in the forthcoming transfer window.
The Toffees have held a long-term interest in the Argentina international, who has yet to make a competitive appearance for the Red Devils this campaign.
According to Metro, the Merseyside outfit are planning to make a fresh approach for Rojo in the New Year with Wolverhampton Wanderers also in the running to pursue the versatile defender.
The report continues to suggest that Jose Mourinho would have no issues parting ways with Rojo mid-season, given the Portuguese manager is looking to raise funds to recruit a new central defender.
Marco Silva is currently well stocked with players at the heart of the defence but the Toffees boss is supposedly looking into the future with Kurt Zouma due back at Chelsea next season while Phil Jagielka could be released.
Everton have made a decent start to the ongoing Premier League campaign and they are currently ninth on the table with 19 points after the first 12 matches.
