Manchester City, Manchester United to battle for Portuguese midfielder?

Ruben Neves news

Mancunian duo after Neves

Manchester City and Manchester United could reportedly go head-to-head in the race to sign Ruben Neves from Wolverhampton Wanderers in the summer.

The 21-year-old has impressed during his 20 months at the west Midlands outfit and his performances have encouraged interest from some of Europe's elite including Paris Saint-Germain.

However, according to The Express, Neves could be offered a big-money move in the Premier League itself with City and United prepared to go on a bidding battle for his services.

Nonetheless, the Citizens are understood to hold an advantage in the player's pursuit, given United are unlikely to come anywhere close to the Wolves' hefty £100m valuation for the Portuguese.

Neves has contributed three goals and two assists for the west Midlands outfit, who have impressed since their return to the Premier League last summer.

Wolves are currently occupying the seventh position in the standings and they hold a strong chance of securing the final Europa League spot at the end of the season.
