De Gea to sign new United deal

David de Gea has reportedly told his close friends that he is on the verge of signing a new long-term contract with Manchester United.

The 28-year-old has been in a contract standoff with the Red Devils over the year which has forced the club to trigger a clause to extend his stay until the summer of 2020.

However, this uncertainty could soon end with the goalkeeper having told his close mates that he is happy to commit his future to the Mancunian giants, The Sun reports.

De Gea had previously been reluctant to pen a new contract owing to the wages on offer but it appears that he has eventually come to terms with United, who are prepared to reward him with a fresh £350,000 a week salary.

The Spaniard was guilty for Arsenal's opening goal on Sunday where United suffered a 2-0 defeat at the Emirates Stadium. The result ended United's unbeaten league streak under the tutelage of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
