De Gea states condition to sign new United deal

Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea is prepared to sign a new long-term contract with the club, provided the club can offer assurances over the transfer policy.

The Spain international has just 14 months remaining on his current contract with the club and so far, he has been playing a contract standoff with the Red Devils reluctant to match his £350,000-a-week wage demands.

However, according to The Mail, it is suggested that the shot-stopper could reach a contract agreement with United during the summer, but he is said to want clarity regarding the transfer policy.

United have been average in terms of recruitment in the past few summer transfer windows and he is said to want assurances that the club will spend on quality recruits to push for the title next term.

De Gea has made more than 350 appearances for United since joining the club from Atletico Madrid eight years ago. He has experienced a mixed season this term, but he continues to remain the undisputed choice between the sticks.
