Manchester United to swoop for Chelsea defender?

Manchester United after Reece James?

Manchester United are reportedly monitoring the proceedings of Chelsea defender Reece James ahead of a potential approach for his services in the summer.

The 19-year-old is currently on a season-long loan at Wigan Athletic where he has featured in 42 games for the club in the Championship alone.

A recent report revealed that Brighton & Hove Albion have failed with a £10m bid for the teenager and The Mail suggests that the Blues could be bracing themselves for further interest from league rivals United.

United are understood to be on the search for a new right-sided defender to compete with Diogo Dalot during the forthcoming campaign and it appears that Reece has genuinely caught their eye through the season.

They are likely to come up with a £15m to acquire his services in the summer but it remains to be seen whether the Blues would consider the deal, considering James has more than three years left on his contract.

James has yet to make his first-team debut for the west London giants.
