Manchester United make improved offer for Ajax star?
Manchester United are reportedly maintaining their hopes of signing Matthijs de Ligt from Ajax during this summer's transfer window.
Barcelona were said to be leading the race to sign the 19-year-old this summer but it appears that the Blaugrana are not in complete control over the player's destiny.
According to Sport, United are still hopeful of pursuing the Netherlands international and they have made a significantly improved offer to lure him to the Premier League.
De Ligt has remained muted with regards to his next move but reports have suggested that he could favour a switch to Old Trafford and become the face of their summer rebuild.
De Ligt, who will be turning 20 in August, has made more than 100 appearances for Ajax since making his first-team debut three years ago.
He has recently captained the Amsterdam outfit to a domestic double and just missed out on the chance of making the Champions League final.
