Ferguson joins ref debate

Sir Alex Ferguson has joined the referee debate and hit out at Chelsea for the way they hound referees when there is an important decision to make. Ferguson admitted that Man Utd were guilty of this too, in the past.

“We see it as an issue. Haranguing referees is absolutely ridiculous. Since the situation with Andy D’Urso some years ago, we’ve not done anything like that.

"That was a pivotal moment for us. I went off my head with them about that. I thought it was ridiculous and it never happened again. We tell them to shake the hand of the ref at the end of the game.

“Sometimes it’s difficult but they have to do it. Respect for referees is absolutely correct. It’s the same as if we lose a game."
