Manchester United make official announcement for first summer signing

Daniel James news

Daniel James joins United

Manchester United have confirmed that Daniel James has officially become a Red Devil after he penned a five-year contract with the option of another 12 months.

The Mancunian giants acknowledged that they had reached an agreement with Swansea City for the winger's signature earlier in the month and they have now confirmed the transfer after sorting out the necessary formalities.

"This is one of the best days of my life and a challenge I am really looking forward to. The Premier League is the best league in the world and Manchester United is the perfect place for me to continue to develop as a player," he told the club's official website.

James made his breakthrough during the previous campaign with the Swans and he was hugely impressive as he contributed five goals from 38 appearances for the Welsh outfit.

He has generally featured on the left side of the attack during his time in the Championship and it remains to be seen whether he can command a similar role with Manchester United amid the strong competition.

His pace attribute has been highlighted as an advantage by manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and the pre-season tour should provide the fans with a good look at the latest signing.
