Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has said that he is positive regarding the prospect of David de Gea signing a new deal with the club.

The Spain international has been with the Red Devils for the past eight seasons, but his future has recently come under discussions with his contract expiring in 12 months' time.

However, speaking in a press conference, Solskjaer has indicated that he is positive regarding a contract extension for the Spaniard, who has bagged over 100 clean sheets in the Premier League.

"David has had a summer where he's been negotiating and we hope we're going to get it sorted. I'm positive. Of course, with David I've said many times how lucky I am and happy we are to have him in goal," he said.

De Gea has already turned down a £300,000-a-week extension with the Red Devils and reports have suggested that United may come up with a fresh £350,000-a-week proposal which should convince him to stay put.
