Alberto Moreno swaps Liverpool for Villarreal
Spanish international defender Alberto Moreno has made a transfer back to his home country with a deal being completed to join Villarreal. The Yellow Submarines have agreed a three year contract with the left-back, who will arrive for pre-season training with his teammates next week.
Despite winning the Champions League with Liverpool, Moreno had decided that he would not stay put at Anfield and has left the Reds on a free transfer.
The player, who has four caps for Spain, had been in talks with Real Betis and Valladolid but has opted to make a move to Villarreal.
The Spanish club also have other former Premier League player Santi Cazorla amongst their ranks and are hoping to challenge for a Champions League qualification spot next season.
27 year old Alberto Moreno played over 90 games for Liverpool from 2014 until 2019.
