Laurent Koscielny refuses to travel with Arsenal for pre-season tour
Arsenal captain Laurent Koscielny has declined to join the Gunners for their pre-season tour of the United States as he remains keen on securing a fresh challenge.
The 33-year-old has just 12 months remaining on his current deal with the north London giants and it is claimed that he has demanded to leave on a free which the club have declined.
As such, the former France international has refused to travel with the team to the United States and the club have confirmed the same through a formal statement.
"Laurent Koscielny has refused to travel to the US for our pre-season tour. We are very disappointed by Laurent's actions, which are against our clear instructions," the statement read.
Koscielny has been linked with a potential return to the French Ligue 1 this summer with Lyon and Bordeaux among the contenders to secure his signature.
Arsenal are currently reluctant to part ways with the Frenchman for anything less than £10m but reports suggest that the defender may seek to buy out the final year of his £90,000-a-week deal.
