Tottenham Hotspur land Giovani Lo Celso on loan
Tottenham Hotspur have announced the signing of Giovani Lo Celso on a season-long loan deal from Sporting with the option to buy at the end of the season.
The Argentina international had been on the club's radar since the early weeks of the summer transfer window but Spurs were struggling to find the breakthrough in terms of the fee.
Earlier on Wednesday, it was indicated that Spurs would be prepared to spend a club-record £60m sum to secure the midfielder's signature but it has now been confirmed that he has arrived on an initial loan move with the option to buy.
According to Sky Sports News, the north London giants have agreed to pay a £55m fee for the permanent purchase of the midfielder next summer with a further £5m to be settled in the form of add-ons.
Aside from Lo Celso, Spurs were able to recruit the services of Jack Clarke, Tanguy Ndombele and Ryan Sessegnon during the summer transfer window which has just concluded.
