Manchester United rejected Bruno Fernandes?
Manchester United are understood to have rebuffed the opportunity to sign Sporting midfielder Bruno Fernandes following a report from the club's talent-spotters.
Fernandes was tipped to join the Red Devils for most of the summer transfer window but ultimately the fans were left disappointed as the deal did not go through.
However, according to The Star, it appears that the Red Devils had rejected the chance to sign the Portugal international after the scouts reported a genuine concern regarding the midfielder's style of play.
It is added that the talent-spotters noted the midfielder's tendency to be dispossessed regularly and believed he would not suit the tactical system under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
United did not pursue a single midfielder during the recently-concluded transfer window despite losing the services of Ander Herrera and Marouane Fellaini this year.
Paul Pogba's future at Old Trafford continues to remain a discussion point and the club may be tempted to strengthen their midfield ranks in January, should the Frenchman push for a move elsewhere.
