Zappacosta set for Roma move

Chelsea have reportedly agreed to loan out right-back David Zappacosta to AS Roma for the entirety of the forthcoming Serie A season.

The Italy international has largely remained a squad player in the past two years with the Blues and he has made just 34 starts across all competitions.

Zappacosta has previously made it clear that he would prefer making a return to Italy and it appears that the Blues are prepared to sanction his temporary exit even though Reece James has yet to recover from his injury..

According to Evening Standard, the Blues have given the go-ahead for the Giallorossi to recruit Zappacosta and they are prepared to offer them with the option to buy when the season concludes.

Zappacosta, who is capable of featuring in both the right and left-back positions, has less than two years remaining on his existing deal with the west London giants.

The recent poor form of Azpilicueta has called for a replacement from the fans in the right-back role, but that appears unlikely to happen in the near future with Zappacosta on his way out of the club.
