Manchester United blocked Ole Gunnar Solskjaers transfer plans

United board did not back Solskjaer in the transfer market

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reportedly failed to succeed in landing some of his targets during the recent summer transfer window.

The Norwegian was able to successfully sign Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Harry Maguire and Daniel James this summer but that has coincided with high-profile exits in the form of Ander Herrera and Romelu Lukaku.

Chris Smalling and Alexis Sanchez appear set to head through the exit door on loan in the coming hours and Standard Sport claims that the United boss had been hoping for more inward activity.

The same publication claims that Matteo Darmian and Marcos Rojo have already been deemed surplus to requirements but neither have yet to part ways with the Old Trafford giants.

United were linked with Sergej Milikovic-Savic, Bruno Fernandes and Sean Longstaff to bolster the midfielder ranks during the summer but none of those players were pursued by the United hierarchy.

The Red Devils, who are presently fifth in the standings, have accumulated four points from the opening three league games. They are set to face Southampton on the road this weekend.
