Manchester United defender Matteo Darmian could reportedly be the next player through the exit door after the club sanctioned his sale to an unnamed Italian club.

The 29-year-old made just seven appearances during the course of the previous campaign and he has since fallen out-of-favour under manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

According to The Manchester Evening News, the Italy international is nearing a Serie A comeback with an unnamed club following four years with the Mancunian giants.

The former Torino man currently has just 11 months remaining on his existing United deal and the club are said to have accepted a nominal fee to sanction his sale after finding no suitors for their initial £12m price tag.

Aside from Darmian, Alexis Sanchez and Chris Smalling are also expected to join Inter Milan and AS Roma respectively on loan, although both deals are unlikely to include the option to buy.

United have made an average beginning to the current league season and they have bagged just four points from the opening three matches. They have an away game at Southampton this weekend.
