Chelsea face fresh injury blow with young graduate injured on international duty
Chelsea have been delivered with a fresh blow following an injury to midfielder Billy Gilmour on international duty with the Scotland Under 21s.
The teenager has been highly-rated by the Blues academy and he recently made his first-team debut against Sheffield United in the Premier League.
As such, he would have fancied to earn more gametime under Frank Lampard in the forthcoming games but he has now picked up a groin problem in training with the Scotland Under 21s.
The length of the injury is yet to be assessed but a report from Football.London indicates that he could be sidelined for a month at the least following the unexpected setback.
Chelsea boss Lampard has focused on the progression of young players this season amid the transfer ban and Gilmour has recently been rewarded with a fresh four-year contract.
The west London giants have made an average beginning to the campaign with just five points gained from the opening four league games. They are scheduled to face Wolves on the road this weekend.
