Jose Mourinho sends warning to Frank Lampard
Former Chelsea and Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has sent a warning to Frank Lampard following the Blues' slow beginning to the current campaign.
Lampard has placed the emphasis on developing young players this season but so far, that has not contributed to the Blues picking up regular points in the Premier League.
Speaking on Sky Sports, Mourinho said that Lampard must focus on winning games for the club rather than building a team to succeed in the long run.
Otherwise, the Portuguese tactician believes the Blues may lose their big club status and could struggle to compete for the Premier League title in years to come.
"I hope they don't get used to losing, that's the important thing, when you start accepting defeats just because your team play well and your players gave it their best, in terms of their application and commitment. I think when you get used to it, big clubs stop being big clubs," he told.
Chelsea have accumulated just eight points from the opening six league games and they are currently 11th in the standings due to an inferior goal difference.
Their next game comes against Grimsby Town in the third round of the League Cup on Wednesday night before they entertain Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League three days later.
