Sander Berge chased by Napoli, Liverpool
European heavyweights Liverpool and Napoli are eyeing a move for Racing Genk player Sander Berge, with a view to making a 20 million euro transfer move in the January transfer window. The Norway international midfielder has caught the eye since making a transfer to the Jupiler League from his former club Valerenga; with Premier League side Liverpool deploying their chief scout to monitor the 6 foot 5 21-year-old in action for his club.
It is understood that Liverpool's scouting network have identified Berge as one of Europe's most prestigious and up and coming talents and will do everything in their power to secure a move for the Norwegian ahead of rivals Napoli.
Berge himself commented on talk of a potential move to the Premier League, telling reporters: "Playing at Anfield is a dream for everyone in the world, and not least for Norwegians. Liverpool are the best team [at the moment] and have the most fans. So I would certainly like to play at Anfield as often as possible."
Genk sporting director Dimitri De Conde also revealed that clubs were monitoring Berge's progress: “Napoli are interested in Sander and it’s is a possibility.
“We also know Liverpool follow him carefully. Klopp spoke to the boy after the Anfield game, congratulating him on the performance."
