Manchester United face Dortmund competition for experienced striker
Manchester United are set to face fresh competition from Borussia Dortmund in the race to sign Mario Mandzukic from Juventus in January.
Mandzukic has been touted to join the Red Devils since the summer and reports have recently emerged that he could be on the brink of signing for them.
However, a report from Kicker states that Dortmund have made an approach of their own for Mandzukic as they seek to lure him back to the Bundesliga in January.
Mandzukic has previously contributed 53 goals from 110 Bundesliga appearances for Wolfsburg and Bayern Munich respectively and Dortmund are aiming to tempt him with the assurance of regular first-team football.
Since the summer, it has been regularly mentioned that Mandzukic has the ambition of playing in the Premier League but it remains to be seen whether he will remain content with a bench role at Old Trafford.
The Croatian has failed to make a single appearance for the Bianconeri this term. He recently turned down an approach by an unnamed Qatari club in order to continue his career in Europe.
