Liverpool confirm their first January signing
Liverpool have confirmed that they have reached an agreement to sign Takumi Minamino from Red Bull Salzburg at the turn of the year.
The Japan international had a series of medical tests with the Reds on Wednesday and the move has now been made official by the club.
"We can confirm an agreement has been reached with @redbullsalzburg for the transfer of Takumi Minamino," a tweet from the club's official Twitter account read.
Minamino featured in both of Salzburg's Champions League group stage meetings against Liverpool and he bagged a goal and an assist in the 4-3 defeat at Anfield.
The Reds recently triggered a £7.25m release clause on his Salzburg deal and he has now penned a four-and-a-half year contract with them, which becomes active from January 1.
Liverpool are scheduled to face Everton in the FA Cup third round on January 5 and Minamino has a strong chance of making his debut in the Merseyside derby.
