Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has hinted that the club may look at the possibility of signing an experienced striker in the form of Edinson Cavani this month.

The west London side have been touted to go on a winter spending spree but that has clearly not been the case with the club yet to make any signing to bolster the senior squad.

Paris Saint-Germain recently confirmed that Cavani has officially handed in a transfer request and when asked about the Uruguayan, Lampard hinted that the club do have the idea of signing a senior marksman.

"I think we are young, and we know about the transitions. The idea of bringing in experience is something I'm certainly not absolutely looking away from. Because sometimes the young players need a little bit of help," he told.

Cavani has been fancied to head to Atletico Madrid since the beginning of the year and the Spanish side are definitely leading the race to land him on a cut-price deal, given his contract at Les Parisiens expires in the summer.

The Uruguayan has been linked with a Premier League move in the past few years but it remains to be seen whether the Blues are prepared to take the risk and sign him in the final phase of his professional career.
