Lampard pleased with Alonso's display

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard is pleased with the performance of one Blues player following the club's 2-2 Premier League draw at Bournemouth on Saturday.

The west London side were the dominant team during the course of the game but they settled for a disappointing stalemate after failing to make the most of their chances on goal.

Marcos Alonso scored for the second Premier League running in the 33rd minute and that provided the Blues with a well deserved lead heading into the half-time break.

However, the Blues were pegged back by the Cherries with two quick goals before the hour mark and they were eventually thankful to Alonso, who scored again five minutes from time.

Speaking after the game, Lampard was pleased with the efforts of Alonso, who helped the Blues avoid a 10th league defeat of the season, he told: "I am really pleased with the way he has come back in."

Meanwhile, Lampard was critical of the performances of the forward, who could not find the back of the net despite the numerous opportunities over the 90 minutes.

"It is costing us. At the same time, you are going to have 23 chances, it creates the nervousness. It is a clear part of our season. We need to stick the ball in the back of the net," he added.
