Milan keen on Upamecano

AC Milan are reportedly keen on signing RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano.

The French centre-back has been the subject of transfer interest from top European clubs including the likes of Tottenham, Bayern Munich and Barcelona.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Rossoneri's sporting director Massimiliano Mirabelli is trying to lure the 21-year-old to San Siro this summer.

It is also added that Milan’s head scout Geoffrey Moncada has been keeping tabs on Upamecano for a while.

The French U-21 star has been sturdy in the defence for Die Rotten this season, helping them achieve seven clean sheets in Bundesliga.

Rossoneri could face heavy competition from Bayern who have made Upamecano a priority this summer. Meanwhile, Jose Mourinho scouted the French centre-back last month during Leipzig's league game against the Bavarians.

Upamecano reportedly holds a release clause worth €60m and has a contract that runs until the summer of 2021.

Milan missed out on the signing of Barcelona centre-back Jean-Clair Todibo, who eventually joined  FC Schalke on loan.
