Inter Milan to swoop for Olivier Giroud this summer

Inter Milan back in for Olivier Giroud

Inter Milan are planning a free transfer move to sign Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud once the transfer window reopens. The player, who has been confined to just 13 appearances this season, scoring three goals, wants to move to Italy to finish his career.

The former Arsenal man is desperate to leave Stamford Bridge after Tammy Abraham took his place in the club's first team. Giroud's contract will expire on July 1st and on that date it is understood Giroud will seek a move to Italy, where there are several teams all chasing the World Cup winning striker's signature.

Giroud still believes that he has what it takes at the highest level, and wants to try his luck in Serie A before calling time on his career.

The Frenchman joined Chelsea from Arsenal and is a fan favourite in London, but manager Frank Lampard has no plan to offer Giroud a new contract at the Bridge.

According to Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter Milan had already agreed terms with Giroud in January, but at the last minute a deal fell through and the team will now make a second attempt to sign the striker.
