Chelsea to compete with Arsenal for Turkish midfielder?
Chelsea have reportedly joined Arsenal in the race to sign midfielder Orkun Kokcu from Feyenoord.
The 19-year-old is highly regarded in the Eredivisie and he recently bagged two goals and four assists in the 2019/2020 season, which was abruptly ended by the coronavirus pandemic.
It has previously been revealed that the Gunners are interested in the teenager but it appears that they could now face competition from the likes of Chelsea, Sevilla and Real Betis, as per Voetbal International.
Still, the north London side may have the advantage in the pursuit of the Turkey youth international, given they have been in contact with Feyenoord since the beginning of the year.
Ex-Feyenoord boss Jaap Stam recently described Kokcu as one of the best young midfielders in Dutch football and backed him to succeed in the Premier League.
Kokcu recently switched his allegiance to Turkey after initially representing the Netherlands at the youth level. He was fancied to earn a call-up to the senior side in March before the season was disrupted by the coronavirus pandemic.
