Chelsea receive boost in signing Eredivisie star

Andre Onana news

Onana to leave Ajax this summer

Chelsea have received a boost in signing Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana with manager Erik Ten Haag admitting that the player can leave the club at the right price this summer.

The Cameroon international has been regularly linked with the Blues this year and reports have claimed that he would prefer to join them ahead of Tottenham Hotspur.

Amidst this, Ten Haag has admitted that Onana is free to leave Ajax in the summer for the right financial package, he told Algemeen Dagblad: "Andre is very important to us.

"Of course we don't want to lose him, but it's true that we have an agreement from last year about the development scenario and what steps we will take if the right club comes in at the right price."

Kepa Arrizabalaga has been the Blues' first-choice goalkeeper over the past 18 months but there have been questions over his shot-stopping and distribution this term.

Earlier this year, the Spaniard was dropped from the starting lineup for six games on the bounce but he was able to reclaim his spot before the coronavirus shutdown.

Any move for Onana may be dependent on whether they can find any suitors for Arrizabalaga. The west London side are expected to demand around £55m for the Spaniard's sale.
