Manchester United make final offer to emerging club graduate
Manchester United have reportedly made a last-ditch attempt to extend the contract of academy graduate Angel Gomes.
Gomes has struggled to make his breakthrough to the senior squad and he has made only six appearances for United this term.
As a result, he has grown frustrated by the situation and there is the possibility of him leaving on a free when his contract expires next month.
According to The Sun, United are still hopeful of prolonging the youngster's stay and they have made a final offer to keep hold of his services.
It is added that the hierarchy are willing to double his current salary in the attempt to convince him to stay put with the club beyond the summer.
Gomes, who can play anywhere across the attack, has been the subject of interest from Premier League rivals Chelsea in recent months.
Suppose the Blues sign him, United will be able to command a compensation fee for the training costs through mutual understanding or a tribunal.
