Newcastle United enter race to sign Odion Ighalo
Newcastle United have reportedly entered the race to sign Odion Ighalo, who is currently on a season-long loan at Manchester United.
The 30-year-old made the switch to the Red Devils on a temporary basis in January and he managed to score four goals in eight outings before the season was suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Ighalo's current loan deal is due to expire at the end of May but talks are already underway with Shanghai to extend the temporary stint until July at the least.
According to Sky Sports News, it is still unclear whether Shanghai will prolong Ighalo's loan spell at Old Trafford but there is fresh interest in the player from the Magpies.
The Tyneside outfit are on the cusp of a takeover from PCP Capital Partners, who are backed by the Saudi Public Investment Fund and they are expected to pursue high-profile targets this summer.
Ighalo has been identified as a possible option to bolster their frontline which has struggled to regular find the back of the net. Last summer's signing Joelinton has netted only one goal from 29 league appearances.
