Tottenham Hotspur tipped to beat Manchester United to Belgians signature

Spurs favourites to land Meunier

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly leading the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea in the race to sign Thomas Meunier this summer.

The Belgium international is currently contracted to Paris Saint-Germain until June 30 and the club are said to have no plans of extending his stay.

As a result, he will be available on a free transfer in July and L'Equipe claims that Spurs have the advantage over United and Chelsea in signing him.

While all three clubs can meet his wage demands, the north London side are prepared to offer him the assurance of a starting spot on the right side of the defence.

Chelsea currently have Cesar Azpilicueta and Reece James competing for the right-back role and both have impressed at different stages of the current campaign.

Meanwhile, United have Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Diogo Dalot available in their ranks and the former has been the undisputed starter in the position this term.

In comparison, Serge Aurier has struggled for consistency at Spurs and manager Jose Mourinho wants Meunier to take up the starting role ahead of the Ivorian and Japhet Tanganga.
