Manchester United could seek to land the signature of Rabbi Matondo from Schalke 04, suppose they are unable to strike a deal for Borussia Dortmund's Jadon Sancho.

The Red Devils have been constantly linked with Sancho this year and reports have claimed that they have already finalised personal terms with the attacker.

Still, a transfer seems far from happening with Dortmund reluctant to lower their £100m asking price despite the financial impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

According to Manchester Evening News, United are unlikely to meet Dortmund's valuation for the forward and they could delay their pursuit until next summer.

It is added that the Red Devils could still recruit a new winger during the next transfer window and have their sights on signing Matondo from Schalke 04.

Matondo, who was previously in the Manchester City youth system between 2016 and 2019, has netted the solitary goal from 24 appearances for the Bundesliga outfit.

He is capable of playing anywhere in the attack front and has been earmarked as a low-risk transfer option for United. The 19-year-old has already earned three caps with Wales.
