Newcastle United plan to swoop for Liverpool attacker
Newcastle United have identified Liverpool winger Xherdan Shaqiri as a potential target when the transfer window reopens during the summer.
Shaqiri has more than three years remaining on his current Reds deal but he appears likely to leave the club this summer, having struggled for gametime since the start of 2019.
According to The Mail, the Magpies have already made contact with the agent of the Swiss international and could make an offer, once their proposed takeover from PCP Capital Partners is complete.
The Tyneside outfit are likely to make a number of high-profile signings in the next transfer window and they are also said to be interested in Shaqiri's Liverpool teammate Adam Lallana.
The England international is expected to become a free-agent when his contract expires this summer and the Magpies are likely to make a lucrative offer to lure him ahead of their league rivals.
Aside from the Magpies, the likes of Leicester City, Everton, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have also been credited with an interest in the former Southampton graduate.
