Arsenal to miss out on signing Canadian striker

David on his way to Betis

Arsenal are set to miss out on the signing of Gent forward David Jonathan, a report from Estadio Deportivo claims.

The Canada international has been in superb form for the Belgian outfit this term and he has bagged 23 goals and 10 assists from 40 outings in all competitions.

His form has caught the eye of several Premier League sides including Manchester United and Arsenal but it appears that he has decided to snub the interest to make the move to Spain.

According to Estadio Deportivo, Real Betis have agreed on a fee of around £13.5m with Gent and the markman is content to make the move to the Spanish La Liga ahead of next season.

Gent had previously stated that the striker won't be sold on the cheap but the financial impact of the coronavirus pandemic has meant that they have accepted a reduced fee to part ways with their player.

Jonathan has already made 11 appearances for his national side and has scored 12 goals in the process.
