Tottenham Hotspur defender heading for early exit?
Tottenham Hotspur defender Jan Vertonghen may have played his final game for the north London outfit, a report from The Times claims.
The Belgium international has been with Spurs since the summer of 2012 and he has made over 300 appearances for them across all competitions.
He has remained a regular this term with 26 appearances but it appears that he could head through the exit door amid his contract standoff.
According to The Times, the club have failed to make progress in the contract negotiations with Vertonghen, whose deal expires at the end of June.
It had recently been suggested that Spurs may hand Vertonghen a short-term extension beyond June 30 such that he can see out the rest of the season with them.
However, that itself remains far from certain and there are suggestions that the versatile defender could walk away from the club in less than four weeks' time.
The former Ajax graduate has yet to receive any contract offers but reports in Italy claim that both AS Roma and Inter Milan could compete for his signature.
