Manchester United keen on selling experienced defender
Manchester United will reportedly look at the permanent sale of Chris Smalling once he returns from the season-long loan stint at AS Roma.
The England international joined the Giallorossi at the beginning of the campaign after he became out-of-favour for a starting role under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Smalling has since made 28 appearances for the Serie A outfit across all competitions where he has caught the eye with his tackling and aerial presence in his own box.
Roma are obviously keen on signing him on a permanent basis but they can't afford to meet the Red Devils' £25m price tag amid the financial impact of the coronavirus pandemic.
United are on the search for other suitors for the former Fulham man as they are keen to raise funds for the purchase of new players during the summer transfer window.
Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have been credited with an interest in the past but it is unclear whether they will make an approach to sign the centre-back under the current financial climate.
