United enter race for Van de Beek

Ajax chief executive Edwin van der Sar has confirmed that Manchester United and Real Madrid are among the high-profile clubs in the running to sign Donny van de Beek in the next transfer window.

Van de Beek was the subject of a transfer bid from Los Blancos last summer and it appeared that he would join them before he made the decision to stay put in Amsterdam for another campaign.

The 13-time European champions are back in the race to sign him but Van de Sar has confirmed that his former club United have also expressed an interest in the Netherlands international.

"It's clear that clubs like Real Madrid and United are showing interest in Donny van de Beek," He was quoted as saying by Portuguese outlet NOS.

Van de Beek has been a consistent performer for Ajax while operating in the central and attacking midfield roles. He bagged 10 goals and 11 assists from 37 outings for Ajax this term before the season was voided.
