Real Madrid have reportedly joined Manchester United in the race to sign Ismael Bennacer from AC Milan during the summer transfer window.

The Algerian made the switch to the Rossoneri from Empoli last summer and he has since been a key player for them in the holding midfield role.

He has already turned up 23 occasions for the club in all competitions and his progress seems to have grabbed the attention of several elite European teams.

United were keeping a close eye on his performances before the shutdown and Fichajes claims that Los Blancos have also been impressed with the midfielder's development.

The former Arsenal graduate has more than four years remaining on his Rossoneri contract but he could be prised away from San Siro, if anyone triggers the £45m release clause in his deal.

Zinedine Zidane's side are keen on signing a suitable back-up option for Casemiro this summer. They have also been linked with Rennes' Eduardo Camavinga and Leicester City's Wilfred Ndidi in recent weeks.
