Gomes to leave Manchester United

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has acknowledged that Angel Gomes is likely to leave the club when his contract expires at the end of the month.

The Red Devils have been in constant negotiations over a contract renewal for the teenager, but they have been unable to convince him to prolong his stay with the club.

The club had proposed to offer him £25,000-a-week as basic wages in a new contract, but it appears that the 19-year-old has snubbed the package in the quest for regular gametime elsewhere.

Speaking in a press conference, Solskjaer admitted that there has been no progress in the negotiations with the the player and the Englishman is set to become a free-agent after tomorrow.

"To be honest, I've not heard from them last night or this morning, so it seems like that they haven't managed to agree (a deal), so the answer is probably short and 'yes' then," He told via Goal.com.

Chelsea are deemed to be leading the race to sign Gomes, who has made only six senior appearances for United this term. Barcelona and Juventus are among the foreign teams interested in his services.
