Chelsea plan to open talks for Kai Havertz
Chelsea are planning to open negotiations with Bayer Leverkusen over Kai Havertz following the German Cup final this weekend.
Havertz has been Leverkusen's standout performer during the course of the season and he has registered 16 goals and nine assists from 42 appearances in all competitions.
According to The Express, the Blues are said to hold a keen interest in signing the Germany international and they will step up their pursuit after the DFB Pokal Cup final between Bayern and Leverkusen.
Leverkusen are determined to keep hold of Havertz for at least another season, but it is reported that their potential failure to qualify for the Champions League could see him head for the exit door.
The club missed out on the fourth spot in the Bundesliga by a couple of points, but they can still qualify for the elite competition, if they win the Europa League in August.
The Blues are, however, unconcerned over the outcome and believe they can find a suitable agreement to sign the versatile attacker, who is currently valued at £90m.
