Chelsea want Sergio Romero

Chelsea have reportedly joined Leeds United in the race to sign Sergio Romero from Manchester United during this summer's transfer window.

The Blues are on the search for a new goalkeeper this summer with manager Frank Lampard aiming to replace Kepa Arrizabalaga between the sticks.

A number of high-profile names including Jan Oblak and Marc-Andre Ter Stegen have been linked with the club, but ESPN claims that they could consider a move for Romero from the Red Devils.

The Argentine has been with the Red Devils since the summer of 2015, but he has failed to receive regular playing time due to the presence of David de Gea, who has been the first-choice under different managers.

With the return of Dean Henderson after his loan stint, Romero is likely to drop further down the pecking order and ESPN reports that he will most certainly head for a new challenge.

Romero could be available for a relatively low fee of around £10m. The Argentine has made 61 appearances for United to date, but only seven of those have come in the Premier League.
