Spanish midfielder determined to join Liverpool
Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara is determined to join Liverpool during the ongoing transfer window, a report from SportBild claims.
The Spain international has declined to sign a new contract with Bayern beyond June 2021 and the club are expected to sanction his departure this summer.
In recent weeks, the likes of Arsenal, Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain have all been credited with an interest in Thiago, but SportBild claims that that the 29-year-old is focused on joining the Reds.
It is added that the Spaniard has already made contact with manager Jurgen Klopp, but the Reds have yet to finalise a suitable transfer fee with the recently crowned European champions.
Bayern are currently demanding a fee of around £27m for their midfielder, but the Reds are reluctant to come close to the figure. Talks are said to be continuing between the sides regarding the player's future.
Liverpool have been pretty quiet during the summer transfer window and they have made the solitary purchase of Kostas Tsimikas from Greek side Olympiacos.
